Texas vs Cal AS-LIVE Game Watching

 
Although the freshly rebuild Longhorns showed promise in their first four games, Texas has concluded the regular season with a disappointing 4-5 record in the Big 12  and 7-5 overall.  The good news is that we were still bowl eligible and have received an invitation to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego to play the very evenly matched California Golden Bears.  Cal was also 4-5 in conference play (PAC 12) and 7-5 overall, but gave #9 Stanford a run for their money in their second to the last game of the season and losing by just a slim margin....so let's not count them out too easily.

Come out to the Sports Bar & Grill at Victoria Station on Thursday, December 29th at 630pm for an As-Live replay of the game and watch the Horns stampede the Golden Bears and send them into an early winter hibernation.  We can also be a little jealous of the Longhorn fans that went out West for the game and are enjoying some warmth & sunshine in San Diego.

The Cal Alumni Club will be joining us at our event which should make the viewing more fun and allow for a friendly competitive atmosphere.  Please give them a warm welcome.

Texas vs Oklahoma State LIVE Game Watching PARTY

Texas has just come off a big win against Iowa State and is going into the Texas/OU game ranked #11 despite kicking off the season out of the Top 25 altogether. Both teams travel to Dallas undefeated, but the Sooners have everything to lose and the Horns have everything to prove. Some say Texas is now over-ranked, but we know better than that! COME EARLY, BE LOUD, WEAR ORANGE and watch the Longhorns put those doubters to shame when we beat OU at the Cottonbowl in Dallas, in what is certainly gearing to be a classic match between these two rivals!  Pre-game coverage starts at 4pm.

And fear not - there will be no worries about any technical difficulties as this game is being televised on ESPN America LIVE.

Bat for the Berry's ***UPDATE - we raised $1,600***

Good day out to have some fun, enjoy some sunny weather and raise money for a great cause!  Feel free to play or just come along and cheer on the others.  ANYONE can play!  We'll do a round robin of some sort, so expect to have about 3 games. Bats, gloves etc will be provided! 

This year we will donate all money raised to the Joshua & Robin Berry Children's Trust.  Joshua, who attended UT and his wife Robin, who attended Tulane, were killed in a car accident on July 2nd driving home from a family vacation in Colorado.  Their 3 children survived, but the two older boys - Peter, age 9 and Aaron, age 8, are now paralyzed from the waist down.  The youngest, daughter Willa, age 6, is ok with a few broken bones.  These kids have a long road ahead to recovery.  Let's do our part by going to Bat for the Berry's.  We will collect additional donations on the day.  We will also have baked goods for sale, so come join us for food and fun!

Scholarship Update: James thanks UKTE

Our 2007 scholarship UKTE scholarship winner James Wakefield took time out from his first semester's studies and activities to write and thank UKTE for his scholarship award:

"I am writing to offer my sincere thanks for selecting me to receive the Texas Exes Scholarship for the United Kingdom Chapter. I am truly honoured to receive this scholarship and I am determined to justify your choice by fully embracing university life in Austin and striving for academic excellence."

James, pictured here at the Scholarship Awards Dinner, went to school in Hampton, Middlesex, UK and is majoring in History at UT. His $1000 award raised was from donations at UKTE events.

Play Flag Football

Every Saturday at 12noon in Hyde Park

We play for about 2 hours at noonish almost every Saturday, rain, shine, and ESPECIALLY MUD! We get about 8-16 guys out and there's always post-game "analysis" at the pub following the carnage.  Map to GS Field

	5th Annual UKTE Softball Classic Congratulations to the Rest-of-the-World team from Texas Tech, TCU, Rice, Michigan, Virginia, Nebraska and others, captained by Sean Seton-Rogers, who triumphed after coming from behind in the bottom of the final innings in the championship game to snatch victory from the University of Texas team.  Thank you to everyone who came out and made it our biggest and best Softball tournament ever.
